Brief summary of workshop
Biomedical researchers in clinical departments need mentoring in many areas, including not only the strategies to drive their scientific careers and advice on teaching and working with students, but also how to simultaneously juggle research and clinical responsibilities. Women faculty are unlikely to find a single mentor who can provide sage advice in all of these areas. Furthermore, these women often face a tradition in which their mentor is their clinical division chief, who is responsible for generating sufficient patient income. It is a rare clinical chief who can effectively deal with this conflict of interest. This workshop will explore mentoring models that can overcome these difficulties.
